Rihanna’s latest single and video “Man Down” is easily one of the more likeable tracks off of her album Loud. Instead of the playfully sexed up seductress that we’ve repeatedly seen from her, she flips it up a bit this time, playing a girl out for some serious revenge after being assaulted by a man she met at a club the night before; hence the lyrics “What started out as a simple altercation/Turned into a real sticky situation/Me just thinking on the time that I’m facing/Makes me wanna cry.”
The Barbadian songstress proudly goes back to embracing her Island roots on “Man Down”; the video was filmed in Jamaica and you can’t help but to clearly hear her Reggae vocal cadence as she fires of her “Rum bum bum bum rum bum’s” – somewhat reminiscence of “Pon de Replay” – only with a little more edge.
