Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes, the gentlemen behind Empire of the Sun, are probably better known for their side project than for their real band, PNAU, who are currently recording their fourth record, Soft Universe. Based on first single “The Truth” that bizarre obscurity may not be long-standing – it’s a great single, ready for radio or the dance floor, waterfalling ‘80s synths glimmering like cartoon jewels, a pulsing, hands-in-the-air chorus. It’s got melancholy lyrics for a pop song – a party-ready meditation on fakeness sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s not: the band make it work, flawlessly. Check it out.
